We talk through diet, prevention, exercise and weight, then one of our veterinarians does a complete physical. We are looking for the changes that are easy to treat now and hard to treat later.

Vaccinations

Puppies, kittens and annual boosters

What happens

We build the protocol around your pet and the risks of living in this region rather than working from a standard list, and a wellness exam comes with it.

What you leave with

Protection that matches how your pet actually lives, and a record you can hand to a boarding kennel.

Preventative medicine

Who it is for

Healthy pets, especially older ones

What happens

A regular checkup that establishes what normal looks like for your animal, so a change shows up as a change.

What you leave with

Problems caught while they are still small, which is almost always the cheaper visit.

Diagnostics

Anything we cannot answer by looking

What happens

Our lab is in the building, so bloodwork and testing are run here rather than sent away.

What you leave with

In most cases an answer during the same visit, instead of a phone call in three days.

Surgery

Who it is for

Routine procedures through to soft tissue surgery

What happens

Experienced surgeons and current equipment. We tell you what happens before, during and after, because the waiting is the hard part.

What you leave with

A written plan for recovery, and a phone number that reaches someone who knows your pet.

Nutritional counseling

Who it is for

Overweight pets, and every change of life stage

What happens

We look at what your pet eats now and what they actually need, then work out something you can realistically keep up.

What you leave with

A diet built around your animal, not a bag recommendation.

Microchipping

Who it is for

Any pet that goes outside, and every pet that might

What happens

A chip the size of a grain of rice goes in under the skin. It takes moments and needs no anaesthetic.

What you leave with

A chip registered to you before you leave, readable by any vet or shelter in the country.

Pharmacy

Who it is for

Anyone leaving with a prescription

What happens

A fully stocked pharmacy on site, so a prescription is filled at the desk.

What you leave with

The medication in your hand on the way out, rather than a second trip.

Boarding, grooming and doggy daycare

Who it is for

Dogs, cats, birds and other pets, while you are away

What happens

The Bed 'n Biscuit at Flint River Animal Hospital offers full-service boarding to ensure your pet is happy, safe and comfortable, with Paws 2 Play doggie daycare on a half acre fenced yard.

What you leave with

A pet boarding inside a veterinary hospital, so if anything happens overnight the vet is through the door.
